Alation | January 31, 2023
On January 30, 2023, Alation Inc., a leading enterprise data intelligence solutions provider, announced the participation of three more universities in its philanthropic initiative, The Data Intelligence Project. The University of Cincinnati in Ohio, The University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Arkansas, and The University of Stirling in Scotland are among the new joining universities. So far, more than 420 students have employed Alation in their courses, with this year's worldwide cohort using Alation to provide real-world exposure to hundreds of new students.
Launched in 2021, the Data Intelligence Project creates a more data-literate, inquisitive, and rational society by fostering the next generation of data professionals. Alation, as part of The Data Intelligence Project, introduces its data intelligence platform into academic institutions for free and offers undergraduate and graduate students a hands-on learning experience utilizing a collaborative data catalog.
Through this program students and professors get access to Alation guest speakers with subject matter knowledge and presentation topics covering analytics, data science, data intelligence, IT, engineering, and more. In addition, Alation University provides students with access to high-quality training materials to assist them in mastering technical skills and utilizing the data catalog.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, one of the program's early participants, is now in its third year of the program, and it is continuing to experience success in educating the next generation of data professionals. It is used by the institution to encourage students' interest in data intelligence and to provide emerging leaders with the tools they need to succeed in their careers.
In addition to enhancing existing engineering courses, the program increases students' marketability to the more than 450 firms that use Alation to seek job opportunities. Cisco, AbbVie, General Mills, Munich Re, Hertz, NASDAQ, Pfizer, Riot Games, Raiffeisen Bank, Salesforce, The Very Group, The University of Virginia, Vattenfall, Virgin Australia, and others are among Alation's customers.
This year, the program welcomed the first foreign university, The University of Stirling in Scotland, and will continue expanding globally. Alation will choose up to four additional academic institutions to join in The Data Intelligence Project in 2023.

Pico | January 27, 2023
Pico is one of the global leaders in providing mission-critical technology services, software, data and analytics to the financial markets. While its Corvil Analytics is best known for ensuring the performance of low-latency electronic trading systems, Corvil VoIP Analytics is used to oversee the operations and performance of some of the world's biggest and most complex VoIP installations. To make sure that VoIP is reliable and of good quality, the Corvil method of evaluating network and application activity at the same time is essential.
Chief Product Officer at Pico, Stacie Swanstrom, said, “With 20 years of experience in deriving operational intelligence from demanding and dynamic networks, Corvil Analytics has established a critical role in high-performance trading environments.” She added, “Corvil VoIP Analytics takes the ability to capture and decode lossless granularly timestamped data at 100GB and applies it to VoIP applications, providing the same rich data clients have come to expect in both on-prem and cloud deployments.”

One significant advantage of Corvil's wire data technique is that it offers a vendor-agnostic method of managing VoIP quality. Large enterprises often rely on several suppliers, and depending on vendor-bundled diagnostic tools provides only a partial and fragmented picture. In addition, 60% of current Corvil VoIP consumers have switched suppliers in the last three years. Corvil was important to the success of those initiatives, and it also provided a complete picture before, during, and after the migration.
The Corvil solution's value is centered on quick and easy access to rich analytics:
A unified interface for summary VoIP performance dashboards highlighting overall KPIs and failure rates
When troubleshooting difficulties with providers and suppliers, complete packet capture for each call gives a clear record
Drill-down into individual calls with a single click and quick access to both signaling messages and the voice call packet stream
Splunk, Orion, Nagios, and other third-party operations management systems benefit from extensive open APIs and live streaming of key metrics
About Pico
Pico is one of the leaders in providing technological services to the financial market sector. Its technology and services are used for mission-critical power systems for worldwide banks, exchanges, electronic trading businesses, quantitative hedge funds, and financial technology service providers. The firm offers a best-in-class array of market solutions that are creative, transparent, and low-latency, as well as an agile and expert service delivery methodology. PicoNet™, a globally comprehensive network infrastructure instrumented natively with Corvil to provide analytics and telemetry, offers instant access to financial markets. WANdisco | January 20, 2023
On January 19, 2023, WANdisco, a data activation company, announced the launching of its Data Activation Platform 2.0 to enable faster migrations of massive datasets. Leveraging both the WANdisco Data Migrator and Edge to Cloud technologies, the updates enhance the speed and scalability of on-premises and edge data transfers through high precision control over migration throughput, prioritization, and cleanup, among other capabilities. In addition, the updates improve data movement performance from Hadoop environments and IoT sensor data to any cloud, boosting the commercial value of data regardless of where it resides.
Organizations maintain a complicated data web that spans numerous storage environments with channels that connect to multiple clouds. According to IDC, businesses store data across five primary domains, but mostly in on-premises, edge locations, and public cloud.
Furthermore, 69% of data leaders are unable to use their data due to lengthy timelines, high costs, and risk of data transfers between environments, as per the 2022 State of Data Activation report. Multi-cloud strategies, in which organizations use artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and analytics capabilities of different clouds for distinct use cases, add to this complexity.
Data Activation Platform 2.0 offers granular control over all or selective data transfers within a streamlined user interface. New automated tools optimize migration and storage resources across environments, with the goal of increasing the speed at which large-scale datasets can be migrated to any cloud.
David Richards, CEO and Founder of WANdisco, said, "Businesses face a dizzying challenge in moving massive amounts of data from a lot of sources to a lot of targets. As data continues to amass at the edge and on-premises at an unprecedented pace, solutions must improve to handle massive data transfers at incredible speeds – but also deliver a seamless experience." He further added, "Data Activation Platform 2.0 does just that. Now enterprises will have even greater control over all, or specific, data transfers happening across their business."
