Alation | January 31, 2023
On January 30, 2023, Alation Inc., a leading enterprise data intelligence solutions provider, announced the participation of three more universities in its philanthropic initiative, The Data Intelligence Project. The University of Cincinnati in Ohio, The University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Arkansas, and The University of Stirling in Scotland are among the new joining universities. So far, more than 420 students have employed Alation in their courses, with this year's worldwide cohort using Alation to provide real-world exposure to hundreds of new students.
Launched in 2021, the Data Intelligence Project creates a more data-literate, inquisitive, and rational society by fostering the next generation of data professionals. Alation, as part of The Data Intelligence Project, introduces its data intelligence platform into academic institutions for free and offers undergraduate and graduate students a hands-on learning experience utilizing a collaborative data catalog.
Through this program students and professors get access to Alation guest speakers with subject matter knowledge and presentation topics covering analytics, data science, data intelligence, IT, engineering, and more. In addition, Alation University provides students with access to high-quality training materials to assist them in mastering technical skills and utilizing the data catalog.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, one of the program's early participants, is now in its third year of the program, and it is continuing to experience success in educating the next generation of data professionals. It is used by the institution to encourage students' interest in data intelligence and to provide emerging leaders with the tools they need to succeed in their careers.
In addition to enhancing existing engineering courses, the program increases students' marketability to the more than 450 firms that use Alation to seek job opportunities. Cisco, AbbVie, General Mills, Munich Re, Hertz, NASDAQ, Pfizer, Riot Games, Raiffeisen Bank, Salesforce, The Very Group, The University of Virginia, Vattenfall, Virgin Australia, and others are among Alation's customers.
This year, the program welcomed the first foreign university, The University of Stirling in Scotland, and will continue expanding globally. Alation will choose up to four additional academic institutions to join in The Data Intelligence Project in 2023.
Founded in 2012, Alation is an industry leader in enterprise data intelligence solutions such as data search and discovery, data stewardship, data governance, analytics, and digital transformation. It integrates machine learning with human insights to solve even the most challenging data and metadata management issues, with its robust Behavioral Analysis Engine, inbuilt collaborative features, and open interfaces. Alation is employed by nearly 450 businesses, including American Family Insurance, AbbVie, Autozone, Draft Kings, Cisco, Exelon, Finnair, Fifth Third Bank, General Mills, Munich Re, NASDAQ, Pfizer, Parexel, Salesforce, Virgin Australia, and Vistaprint, to drive data culture, enhance decision-making, and achieve business outcomes.

Aerospike | January 23, 2023
Aerospike, Inc., the leader in real-time data platforms, has launched Aerospike Connect for Elasticsearch. The new connection allows developers and data architects to use Elasticsearch, a prominent open-source search and analytics tool, to do rapid full-text searches on real-time data stored in Aerospike Database 6.
Aerospike Connect for Elasticsearch contributes to the company's 2023 goal of delivering complete search and analytics capabilities for the Aerospike Database. Using Elasticsearch, the new connection provides quick full-text searches on Aerospike Database 6 data. Additionally, it complements the recently announced Aerospike SQL powered by Starburst product, which enables users to execute large-scale SQL analytics queries on Aerospike Database 6 data.
Aerospike users now have various options to choose from to fuel their search and analytics use cases, thanks to the company's extensive list of capabilities, which now includes the newly announced JSONPath Query support in Aerospike Database 6.
Full-Text-Search for Real-time Data Use Cases
Using Aerospike Connect for Elasticsearch, developers and data architects can swiftly integrate Aerospike's high-performance, scalable, NoSQL database with Elasticsearch to allow a variety of full-text search-based use cases, such as:
Customer Support: enhanced self-service and minimized service delivery expenses.
E-commerce: enhanced client experience that increases the shopping cart size.
Website Experience: Rapid resource availability and enhanced site conversions.
Federal: Mission-critical real-time applications will be more effectively maintained in smart cities.
Workplace Applications: search across different productivity tools in one place.
Growing Portfolio of Enterprise Integrations
Aerospike Connect for Elasticsearch is expanding the Aerospike Connect product line's list of connectors for enterprise data pipelines. In addition, Aerospike clients now have additional options for integrating Aerospike's high performance and scalability into their current data pipelines as a result of the success of multiple customers utilizing connectors for Pulsar, Kafka, Spark, and Presto-Trino.
Aerospike's real-time data platform allows businesses to respond quickly across billions of transactions while decreasing their server footprint by up to 80%. The multi-cloud platform enables real-time applications with predictable sub-millisecond speed up to petabyte size, with 99.999% uptime and globally distributed, highly consistent data.
Applications built on the real-time data platform combat fraud, provide suggestions that significantly boost shopping cart size, facilitate worldwide digital payments, and give hyper-personalized user experiences to tens of millions of consumers. Customers, including Airtel, the European Central Bank, Experian, Nielsen, Snap, PayPal, Verizon Media, and Wayfair, depend on Aerospike as their future data basis. Volt Active Data | January 18, 2023
On January 17, 2023, Volt Active Data, an emerging provider of in-memory database platforms to support applications that require consistency, speed, and scale, announced the unveiling of Active Streaming Decisions (Active(SD)™, an ultra high-speed decision-making engine, enabling companies to use the power of the Volt Active Data Platform to issues that other Kafka ecosystem solutions cannot solve.
With its foundation in the already combat-tested and proven Volt Active Data architecture, Active(SD) quickly utilize event data directly from Kafka topic areas as the data is generated and where the data is generated, leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning to reveal insights and make instantaneous, mission-critical decisions, which are then reverted back to Kafka so an action can be taken while the data (and resulting action) still remains appropriate.
Volt CEO David Flower said, "This is a tremendous opportunity for companies to finally be able to easily add intelligent decisioning to Kafka data streams and thereby fully capitalize on the massive amount of valuable data that Kafka streams into systems."

There are a number of ways to use data from Kafka for further processing down the line, such as loading it into a warehouse or data lake for offline processing and reporting. However, Active(SD) is the only product built specifically to optimize event-time, in-stream decisions in less than ten milliseconds to drive real-time actions consciously. This makes it the fastest way for Kafka-powered applications to go from event to action.
About Volt Active Data
Founded in 2009, The Volt Active Data is a developer of data platforms based in Bedford, MA. The platform lets businesses get the most out of their data and apps by allowing them to grow without compromising accuracy, speed, or consistency. Build on a simplified stack and an ingest-to-action layer that can make decisions in under ten milliseconds, Volt's unique, no-compromises foundation gives businesses the ability to maximize the return on investment (ROI) of their IoT, 5G, AI/ML, and other investments, ensure "five 9's" uptime, save on operational costs, deliver hyper-personalized customer engagement, and prevent fraud and intrusion.
