Equinix to build $85m data center in Singapore

US-based connection and data center firm Equinix has announced its plans to build a data center in Singapore costing S$116.6m ($85m), its fourth data center in the city state so far. The seven-floor facility center located in Tai Seng Industrial Estate, named SG4, will initially be around 4,220 sqm and offer a capacity of 1,400 cabinets before growing to provide a total co-location space of approximately 12,280 sqm with a 4,000-cabinet capacity. The data center is expected to open in 4Q19. SG4 will be connected to the three other data centers in Singapore through low-latency dark fiber links meaning that customers will be able to securely interconnect with the around 600 companies from a number of industries. It will also provide software-defined interconnecting to more than 1,300 businesses, among them some of the largest cloud service providers such as Amazon's AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Alibaba Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
