Big Data and Investment Management

As concepts go, Big Data is one from which it currently seems difficult to escape. The term refers to collections of data sets that are very large and complex, and as such resist attempts to process or manage using traditional methods. More recently, the term has also come to encompass the use of specialised analytical techniques and computing tools to analyse these large and complex data sets. Today’s computing tools can quickly interrogate these huge data sets, revealing hitherto untapped trends, patterns and correlations, from which new insights and predictions around current and future purchasing, or in this case investor needs, can be extrapolated .

Increasingly, advances in our understanding of the genome are contributing to improvements in disease diagnosis, drug discovery and targeted therapeutics.

Fault-Tolerant Components on AWS

whitePaper | November 15, 2019

Fault-tolerance is the ability for a system to remain in operation even if some of the components used to build the system fail. Even with very conservative assumptions, a busy e-commerce site may lose thousands of dollars for every minute it is unavailable. This is just one reason why businesses and organizations strive to develop software systems that can survive faults. Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a platform that is ideally suited for building fault-tolerant software systems. The AWS platform enables you to build fault-tolerant systems that operate with a minimal amount of human interaction and up-front financial investment.
