AI roles supersede blockchain as most-wanted tech jobs

San Francisco-based startup recruitment company AngelList has released a new report revealing that AI and machine learning (ML) roles have supplanted roles in blockchain and cryptocurrency on the firm's job board, AngelList Talent, as the most coveted job for tech professionals. In 2017, at the height of the crypto-hype, jobs in blockchain and cryptocurrency became the most sought-after roles by tech workers looking to become rich quick. However, as the hype died down throughout 2018, ML and AI took its place as the most desirable industry for tech professionals. "The amount of users searching for positions in AI was one of the biggest surprises of the year," commented AngelList Talent CEO Amit Matani to Forbes. "Another surprise was the decline of the crypto boom." Data and analytics roles followed AI as the second most coveted job as blockchain and crypto jobs fell to sixth. Also ranking high on the list were social-good startups, consumer companies and healthcare firms.
