Common Pitfalls in Data Science

Data Science is a field that has experienced a steady rise to prominence alongside Big Data in recent years, as illustrated by Google’s ngram viewer in the figure below. Its practitioners are an evolution of the traditional data analyst. A good Data Scientist will combine statistical rigour and software development methodologies with their subject matter expertise to provide value for data in a usable, production-ready package. However, Data Science can be easily misused. In this post, we shall discuss a few common pitfalls and how to avoid them.
